Felis Påsgua to All

Current City: Dededo, Guam

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas this year. Daniel and I enjoyed Christmas morning together with Christmas tree cinnamon rolls, a muddy and exhausting ride on the quads at the track and finally a lovely dinner with new friends! Very eventful and memorable Christmas.  How did everyone else celebrate this year? Any traditions new or old? I know we’re looking to start a few more through the years!
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

SPF and Christmas Spirit

Christmas PartyCurrent City: Dededo, Guam

This is our first Christmas on Guam, our first as a married couple and for me, my first away from my family. The stockings are hung by the um, door, with care, our tree is a glow with new ornaments reflecting our lives and I’m at the post office almost every other day!

Yesterday Lynn and I witnessed snow in the jungle! Okay, okay, busted, we were in the mall, but Christmas spirit is Christmas spirit! Especially when things feel so different with it being so warm, we’re talking 90 degrees last night, plus Christmas lights, reindeer and carolers singing, “Let it Snow” in their flip flops. Our main Christmas carol this year has been Kenny Chesney’s “All I want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan”, and so far no luck for me. Sigh.

IMG_4576It all just seems like everyone is being tacky and left their Christmas lights up throughout the summer. On top of everything, our big plans for Christmas day is a day at the beach with friends. When in Rome, right?!

What are some fun ways you guys enjoy the holiday season with friends and family?

Seas and Greetings!

Family, Friends and Freezing

Current City: Henderson, Nevada
Great GrandpaMy sudden trip back to the desert was quit a whirlwind! While I enjoyed seeing friends and family the reason was far from pleasant. I was glad I could be with my family through the rough time of losing my great grandfather and to witness such a beautiful turnout and service for a man who truly lived.  Thank you to all who were involved, your kind words and to my grandmother who always seems to make the impossible so very possible and wonderful.

But the silver lining was standing by my cousin’s side as she married her best friend the following week. It truly felt like a romantic comedy, because in true Kayla style she kept us on our toes and announced her wedding a week before the date! Family and friends rallied to produce such a beautiful wedding, it was an amazing time filled with love that won’t soon be forgotten! Karaoke at the reception was so much fun as well, a big shout out to Zoo Karaoke for their excellent work in keeping the fun going all night! It still hasn’t sunk in that my girl is a married woman and that she will be moving to California!

Another fun part of being home was being able to have a hand in my best friend’s wedding since I won’t be able to physically be there to celebrate in March, which honestly breaks my heart! We had quite the adventure with her family doing FullSizeRender (3)wedding black Friday shopping. It went so very smooth considering the carnage that is associated with black Friday, not to mention the ambulances we saw on stand by, yikes! It became even more fun when we all became delirious and everything was funny except our aching feet! Having an amazing friend like her is one of the hardest parts of being so far away, so we try to enjoy whatever we do when we’re together, including me coming back to work with her to help out, haha!

It was nice to have a quiet Thanksgiving with my family and enjoy some carne asada and Blue Bell ice cream. So much yum, but I was really missing my husband and feeling guilty not being able to spend our first thanksgiving as a married couple together. Being away made me realize that my heart is in two places now.

You know I made sure I got my fill of Mexican food, which turns out is my comfort food! Some yummy In-N-Out, Slurpees, amazing brisket and delicious BBQ! I ate my way through the favorites that I”m missing, haha! But on another note, I’m defiantly missing the National Finals Rodeo this year!

Happy Holidays!
